IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR) 2026: Retake Just One Section — How It Works
IELTS One Skill Retake lets you re-sit a single section instead of the whole test. Here is who can use it, how to book, cost, and whether universities and visas accept the new Test Report Form.

One Skill Retake (OSR) lets you re-sit just one of the four IELTS skills — Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking — instead of taking the entire test again. You then receive an updated Test Report Form combining your best results.
Who can use it
OSR is available for computer-delivered IELTS taken at participating test centres. You must book the retake within 60 days of your original test. It is offered for both Academic and General Training in a growing list of countries, including India — confirm availability at your centre.
How to book
After your original computer-delivered test, log in to your test-taker account and select One Skill Retake for the section you want to improve. Pick a date within the 60-day window, pay the fee, and sit only that section.
Cost and results
OSR usually costs less than a full test (varies by country/centre). You receive a new TRF showing the retaken score alongside your other three section scores. Results arrive in the standard 1–5 days for computer-delivered tests.
Do universities and visas accept it
Many universities accept the OSR Test Report Form, but acceptance is not universal — UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) and some institutions may still want a single full-test TRF. Always confirm with your specific university and visa route before relying on OSR.
